Week
of May 14th-18th
This week in Reading
we will begin the story Building Beavers. The question we
will focus on is: How do beavers build their homes? This story is an informational
text and we will be focusing on the text based comprehension skill of main idea.
Our phonics skill is /e/ spelled Ee. Our high frequency words are: the, like,
was, from, to.
This week in Math we
will begin with Topic 12, Measurement. We will learn to describe
objects by more than one attribute, compare by length, weight, and height as
well as compare capacities. Please continue practicing counting to 100 by ones,
fives, and tens as well as writing numbers 0 to 20.
We will be taking Reading
DIBELS on Wednesday. Please make sure your child practices reading nonsense
words from the sheet that was sent home last week. Be sure to work on quickly
naming letters and segmenting words into their sounds as well. We have been
working on these skills for quite some time and I would like to see all
students do the best they can. J
Our daily special
schedule for the week is: Monday, Day 8-Gym; Tuesday, Day 9-Music; Wednesday,
Day 10-Computer; Thursday, Day 1-Art; and Friday, Day 2-Guidance.
