Week
of February 4th-8th
Our Reading story for
the week is “Rooster’s Off to See the
World”. Our question of the week is: What can we learn from our adventures? The Amazing Words for this
story are: world, trip, journey, lonely,
horizon, homesick. The high frequency words are: are, that, do. The text based comprehension skill is sequence. We will listen for /h/ spelled Hh. We will focus on the
correct formation of Hh. Please
practice reading the “I Have”
decodable story. *Each decodable story can be recorded for the monthly Reading
Logs. J
In Math, we will
finish our unit on comparing numbers and take the assessment. Please be sure to
continue working on identifying and writing the numbers 0-20. Practice counting
to 100 by 1’s, 10’s and 5’s. J
In Science we will
discuss Groundhog Day and learn about shadows while relating them to the Earth
and Sun.
Report Cards are enclosed
in your child’s folder today! Be sure to sign the envelope and RETURN to school
tomorrow. You may KEEP the report card at home. Please let me know if you have
any questions or concerns with your child’s progress. Additionally, I noticed
some Fall pictures were left in the report card envelope from the last marking period.
Be sure to double check your envelope. J
