Week of November 5th-9th
Our Reading story for
the week is “Bear Snores On”.
Our question of the week is: What unique thing does a bear do in winter? The
Amazing Words for this story are: sleep, cave, storm, winter, woods, blustery. The
high frequency words are: we, my, like. The text based comprehension skill is realism
and fantasy. We will listen for /k/ spelled Cc at the beginning and end of a
word. We will focus on the correct formation of Cc. Please practice reading the
“The Cap” decodable story.
*Each decodable story can be recorded for the monthly Reading Logs. J Please be sure to practice letter
naming and sight words daily. Use the flashcards that were enclosed in the
plastic sleeve at the beginning of the school year to practice learning these
words.
In Math, we will finish
our unit on 2D and 3D shapes with an assessment on Wednesday and Thursday. Our vocabulary
words for this unit are:

2D (flat): square, circle, triangle,
rectangle, hexagon, rhombus, trapezoid
·
3D (solid): sphere, cylinder, cube,
cone, rectangular prism, triangular prism, and pyramid
In Social Studies, we
will begin to learn about Communities and Thanksgiving. The Turkey Disguise
Projects that have been returned so far are fantastic! We have enjoyed hearing
about each student’s project. J
Report Cards will be
sent home this Friday, November 9th. Please sign and return the
report card envelope and keep the actual report card at home.
