Week of October 29th-Nov.
2nd
Our Reading story for
the week is “Animal Babies in
Grasslands”. Our question of the week is: What special animals live in
grasslands? The Amazing Words for this story are: calf, cub, joey, grassland,
pup, foal. The high frequency words are: we, my, like. The text based
comprehension skill is main idea. We will listen for /p/ spelled Pp at the
beginning and end of a word. We will focus on the correct formation of Pp. Please
practice reading the “Pat the Cat”
decodable story. *Each decodable story can be recorded for the monthly Reading
Logs. J Please be
sure to practice letter naming and sight words daily. Use the flashcards that
were enclosed in the plastic sleeve at the beginning of the school year to
practice learning these words.
In Math, we will continue
to sort and classify 2-D and 3-D shapes. So far, we have learned about a
square, rectangle, triangle, and circle, hexagon, rhombus, trapezoid, and oval.
Please practice number fluency each night as well as writing numbers 0-10.
A Leaf Observation
Paper came home today. Please find a fall leaf and attach it to the paper.
Complete the items on the observation paper and return it to school by Friday.
You can send it in sooner if you would like. If your leaf is very dry, you may
send it in a zip-loc bag. We will share
and display our projects in school. I am looking forward to this fun Fall project.
Please be sure to exchange
the extra clothing that was sent home 2 weeks ago. I sent it home for you to
replace it with seasonally appropriate dress code clothing. Also, please be
sure your child has a sweater or quarter zip they can put on throughout the
day.
