Week of April 23rd-27th

This week in Reading we will begin the story This Is the Way We Go to School! The question we will focus on is: How do children around the world get to school? This story is an informational fiction and we will be focusing on the text based comprehension skill of drawing conclusions. Our phonics skill is /y/ spelled Yy and /kw/ spelled qu. Our high frequency words are: where, come

This week in Math we will continue with Topic 10, Composing Numbers 11 to 19. We will learn to make the numbers 11-19 as well as write number sentences for the numbers 11-20. Our topic 10 test will be on Friday. J Please continue practicing counting to 100 by ones, fives, and tens as well as writing numbers 0 to 20.

Please continue to practice writing as many possible words in ten minutes. The goal is to get approximately 30 words written correctly. Two and three letter words that are sight words or word families are the easiest to remember. Remember repeat words, backwards letters, and illegible letter or words will not be counted. Students will also be asked to write two sentences. Review punctuation, spacing, and sounding out words. Our class will be getting tested this Thursday so please continue to practice. J

Our daily special schedule for the week is: Monday, Day 3-Gym; Tuesday, Day 4-Music; Wednesday, Day 5-Computer; Thursday, Day 6-Art; and Friday, Day 7-Library.
