Week
of April 9th-13th
This week in Reading
we will begin the story The Little Engine That Could. The
question we will focus on is: What kind of work do trains do? This story is a
classic fantasy and we will be focusing on the text based comprehension skill
of plot. Our phonics skill is /u/ spelled Uu. Our high frequency words are:
what, said, was.
This week in Math we
will continue with Topic 9, Composing and Decomposing Numbers to 10.
We will learn to make the numbers 4-10 as well as write number sentences for the
numbers 4-10. Please continue practicing counting to 100 by ones, fives, and
tens as well as writing numbers 0 to 20.
It is not too late to
send in an auction basket donation. Our class theme is “Summer Time Pool Fun”.
Our basket looks great. Thank you to all for the wonderful donations! J The auction will be held this
Saturday and Sunday at NSE’s gym. There are some really great prizes and some
baskets set aside strictly for NSE students. Hope to see you there.
Our daily special
schedule for the week is: Monday, Day 3-Gym; Tuesday, Day 4-Music; Wednesday,
Day 5-Computer; Thursday, Day 6-Art; and Friday, Day 7-Library.
Some dates to look
ahead: 4/9-PTO Meeting, 4/13-Community Movie Night at NSE at 7pm, 4/14-4/15-Basket
