Week of March 18th-22nd

Our Reading story for the week is “Max Takes the Train”. Our question of the week is: What are different ways of going places? The Amazing Words for this story are: plane, subway, ferryboat, jetway, tunnel, sidecar. The high frequency words are: yellow, blue, green. The text based comprehension skill is realism and fantasy. We will listen for /j/ spelled Jj and review /w/ spelled Ww. Please practice reading the “Jen and Will” decodable story. *Each decodable story can be recorded for the monthly Reading Logs. J

In Math, we will continue our unit on Subtraction. Our vocabulary words are: minus sign, equal sign, and take away. We have been working on stories that “take away”.  We have been counting to 100 every day. Please continue to do so at home by 1’s, 10’s and 5’s. Additionally, we have been counting to 20 by 2’s.

In Science/Social Studies we will be learning about Spring (types of weather, things to do, what it looks like and how you might dress) and finish our St. Patrick’s Day read aloud storybooks this week.
