Week
of March 19th-23rd
This week in Reading
we will begin the story Max Takes the Train. The question we
will focus on is: What are different ways of going places? This story is an
animal fantasy and we will be focusing on the comprehension skill of realism
and fantasy. Our phonics skill is /j/ spelled Jj and /w/ spelled Ww. Our high
frequency words are: yellow, blue, and green.
This week in Math we
will continue with Topic 8, Understanding Subtraction. In this
topic, we will learn about stories about separating, take away and comparing.
Additionally, we will learn about using the minus sign, finding differences and
subtraction sentences. Please continue practicing counting to 100 by ones,
fives, and tens.
Our classroom is in
need of some glues sticks. It would be greatly appreciated if each student
could bring in a four pack of glue sticks. Thank you in advance for your
donation.
Our daily special
schedule is: Monday, Day 2: Guidance, Tuesday, Day 3: Gym, Wednesday, Day 4: Music,
Thursday, Day 5: Computers, and Friday, Day 6: Art. Please remember if we have
a snow day that the next school day will be the next rotation day.
Please be sure to send
in any auction basket donations. So far, we do not have anything for our
basket. Please refer to the PTO letter about the basket auction that was sent
home last week. Our classroom basket theme for the auction is “Summer Time Pool Fun”. We will be
accepting donations until April 6th. Some ideas for our basket
include: sunscreen, goggles, mask, pool toys, flip-flops, sun hats, visor,
Frisbee, balls, rafts, pool noodles, inflatables, towels, and swim bag.
Some dates to look
ahead: 3/22-Meet the Spartans at 7pm in HS gym, 3/27-Title 1 Family Fun Night
at 6pm at the elementary, 3/29-PBIS Reward, 3/30-No School.
